Krishna Das Benefit Concert for Tibetan Home of Hope

Saturday, April 11th at 7:30pm at the Tarrytown Music Hall: Krishna Das will perform a special benefit concert to support the Tibetan Home of Hope. Krishna Das is an American vocalist known for his performances of devotional music. Layering traditional kirtan with modern instrumentation, he has become the best-selling western chant artist of all time. He performed at the 2013 Grammy Awards, when his album, Live Ananda, was nominated in the Best New Age album category. “The chanting just hits you and you want to be a part of it,” Krishna Das promises. “You get lit up. You don’t have to know what it means.”

The Tibetan Home of Hope (HoH) is a nonsectarian home and school where children who would otherwise be abandoned receive loving care, food, shelter, education, medical attention and the practical foundation needed to develop into independent adults. HoH is dedicated to the sustainability of the Tibetan people and of their cultural heritage and its connection to nature.

HoH’s founder, Tashi Dolma, is a trained medical doctor who left her homeland of Amdo, Tibet, in the winter of 1990. Her journey brought her to Bodhgaya, India, where she received Kalachakra Teaching. Tashi Dolma and her family now live in New York. She founded the orphanage in 2006. “We are unique in that it is not our intent to send children to adoptive families,” she explains. “Our goal is to contribute to the preservation of Tibetan culture, while supplying the children with the best care and education possible within their homeland. Our responsibility to each child does not end at any point, but continues in a family tradition for life.”

Proceeds from the benefit concert will support HoH in continuing to provide a safe haven for children to thrive academically, connect with their culture, and experience elements of the loving home environment that every child needs and deserves.
